ahhh Munter wants Mayor Bob to Retract His Comment

Poor Alex got caught with a Bombardier lobbyist on his committee to review and advise him on the LRT project and he is crying foul saying that it was a personal attack. Well guess what Alex it is a personal attack and it is deserved. You personally decided to appoint this guy and he personally owns a company that lobbies on behalf of Bombardier so the Mayor is perfectly within his rights to personally point out those facts.

Currently, some Ottawa ward candidates (Doug Thompson, Glen Brooks) have messages on their websites that they are complying with Municipal election law and have effectively shut down their online websites.

Most candidates have not done so. What's your stance on this 'law' which I can't confirm due lack of online resources and my time to look into it?

It is a fine line. The answer I got from the city on this enquiry is that councillors should not use their community portal for election purposes. They are still responsible to the citizens while they are running so I guess they can still use the site for updates. One example of this is Jan Harder....she has effectively stopped updating her websire janharder.com but has another one for the election janharder.ca. My guess is that most councillors are complying with the law but there may be a few exceptions.

yes I think they are allowed to keep it up, but are not allowed to update the site between certain days before the election
