Sorry about the colors

For those of you that have been viewing my blog with Fire Fox there was a problem with the colors and my text was appearing bright green and very hard to read. I have fixed the problem with my HTML code and everything should be fine now.

Kilrea Gives the Shaft to His Supporters

I must admit that I was a little taken back by Terry's decision and I just can't believe there isn't something more to this story. Side Show Bob is a seasoned politician and I wouldn't be surprised if he is somehow behind this. A little arm twisting here and a promise or two there it seems to me that Terry has sold out everything he believes in. That being said I will be supporting Larry O'Brien now and every person I know that was in Terry's corner will be doing the same. Hopefully this will give Larry's campaign some momentum and make him a viable candidate. As for Terry I hope he runs against Alex Cullen and wipes the floor with him. Terry's crime policies should resonate with the voters of Bay Ward that is for sure.

Terry Kilrea Pulls out of Mayoral Race

Looks like lack of funds have forced him to withdraw. However he has said he will be running for council in one of four wards...stay tuned.

All Aboard The OWE Train!!

Looks like the Taxpayers of Ottawa are once again getting the shaft from this Mayor and his band of merry men and women. This rating down grade is sure to cost us a pile of money in the long run with increased debt service charges. It amazes me how Standard & Poor’s are estimating that Ottawa's debt load could increase from 43% of operating budget, as it currently is to 65 or 70% in just 2 short years because of the LRT construction. It also appears that this estimate may be conservative because the estimate the cost of the LRT at 800 Million when we all know it is over a Billion and I am sure that it will go over budget just like every other city project.

I don't understand how the Mayor can keep a straight face when he keeps insisting that the Tax payers are not paying for this..."It's actually not going to be paid by the taxpayer so it's not going to be a burden on the city's budget," Chiarelli said while discussing the 200 Million the city will borrow to pay for the project. He says the money will come from Gas Tax Revenue, someone should tell the Mayor that the money from that revenue should be used as we get it and for all transportation projects and not used as leverage for one. What happens when other projects need to be done? Either they don't receive funding or the Tax Payer is going to have to pay through higher taxes. These guys still don't get it, Gas Tax, Income Tax, Property Tax they are all paid by the same taxpayer...you and me.

Mayor Bob Shows His Pride?

Well I have heard of Canadian companies like Paul Martin's Canada Steam Ship Lines using flags of Convenience to avoid Canadian taxes but this takes the cake. Mayor Bob shows up to the Gay Pride Parade for the first time in his 9-year tenure. I guess he is using the Pride Flag as his flag of convenience in this election. I don't buy his excuse when he says he has always been bust in the past and couldn't attend. I think it has more to do with the fact he has an openly gay opponent in this election that appears to be a formidable foe.

One question I have; is there some connection between the Mayors newfound pride and the fact that this is also the first time in the history of the Book Mobile that it has appeared in any parade especially the Pride Parade. Was there some political arm-twisting done to the Head Librarian on behalf of the Mayor. We all know how astute a politician Bob is and this type of thing is not out of the realm of possibility. I guess we will never know.

Is This Munter's Idea of Bringing the City Together?

Well done Alex, the great uniter!! Seems to me that you are trying to divide this city by pitting the East End against the West End. How city services and infrastrucure projects are planned should have nothing to do with what part of the city you live in but where the need is. You can't go around with the idea that if 50 million is spent in the west that the next 50 should go to the east. If that is your idea of balanced spending then I fear for my tax dollars if you are elected Mayor. People need to start looking at this city as a whole and stop putting one area over another. And another thing.....The city of Ottawa should not commit 1 penny to building another Interprovincial Bridge...leave that to the Provincial polititians. Further more the vast majority of people use those bridges to drive from their homes in Gatineau to work in Ottawa......let them pay for the damn bridge.

Book Mobile Debuts in the Pride Parade

This is outrageous.....why is this Book Mobile being used in this parade? I just don't see the practicle reason. This bus has never been used in any parade in this city until now...not the Help Santa Toy Parade, St Patricks Day Parade, Caribe-Expo Parade, Rememberance Day Parade....I could go on and on but I think I have made my point. This bus us being used as a political statement by the Chief Librarian and the decision should have been made by the Library Board. I hope someone on the board has the guts to reverse this decision and keep our city services such as this Book Mobile out of this event. I think the Book Mobile should be used to promote reading to young people and if it is indeed going to be used in a parade don't you think it should be in a parade that is primarily geared towards young people like the Help Santa Toy Parade. I wish this city would give it's head a shake.
